Since this was my last night in Manila, I decided to treat myself to a really nice hotel stay. I had seen the swanky Peninsula Hotels in Hong Kong and Singapore and thought this would be a great opportunity to try one. Using Agoda points to take $100 of the room rate sealed the deal.

The standard hotel room at the Peninsula is well appointed as you would expect.

The room controls were easy to understand and use. The TV had a good picture as well as an impressive array of international channels. The towels, bed linen and robe were of a higher quality than other hotels. I particularly enjoyed the view of the Makati skyline.

The best features of the Peninsula Hotel are the public spaces.

The lobby seemed to be very popular. It is also where high tea is served.

When I was there in mid November, the hotel was decorated for Christmas. The Philippines is about 90% Catholic. In March 2015, over 5 million turned out to see the Pope.
On this trip I was good and paid a visit to the fitness center for a workout.

The fitness center is a short walk from the lobby through a garden area with a pool and sundecks.

The Peninsula Hotel is located in Makati, which seems to be the prime entertainment district in Manila. Not surprisingly Makati hosts a number of Latin dance venues. The Peninsula Hotel is just across Ayala Ave. from the Shangri-la Hotel, and on Monday night Eileen Sison and her band play at Sage Bar in the hotel. That is the next post.
