The Wing and Cabanas – Cathay Pacific First Class Lounge Review, Hong Kong

Being an Executive Platinum with American Airlines confers status as a OneWorld Emerald.  And one of the best parts of being a OneWorld Emerald is having access to first class lounges of OneWorld airlines when flying internationally on any ticket.

Hong Kong (HKG) is Cathay Pacific’s headquarters and primary hub.  Cathay Pacific has two first class lounges at HKG, The Wing and The Pier.  Both are outstanding lounges although with markedly different vibes.  The Pier is subdued and elegant while the The Wing is more modern and open.

On this trip my flight to Singapore was departing from Gate 4 so I stopped in The Wing for a shower and quick bite.

The Cabanas

The showers in the Wing are called the Cabanas.  Theses showers are themselves a destination.

A Cabana is a suite with a tub and shower, vanity, couch and bathroom.

There was only one bathrobe and slippers but I suspect coupes use these rooms too.

After a refreshing shower, I went to the restaurant.  The restaurant in The Wing has a buffet and a la carte service.

I sampled the buffet and had the silver needle noodles

There is another buffet in the seating area.

Other sitting areas have have small champagne bars and waitress service

I didn’t have time for a massage on this trip.

A great first class lounge like Cathay’s The Wing makes connecting on a long international flight a pleasure.
