We have a lot more beauty in our country…its not just the Wildlife. The Kruger Park is certainly a site to see. Hope you visit sometime (well as soon as this lockdown is over)
I totally agree about the beauty of South Africa. I’ve been to a couple of other places Cape Town and Pretoria area. Any other areas you would recommend?
Hartebeesrpoort, Magaliesberg (great resorts & mountain ranges) , Drakensberg (a UNESCO world heritage site with some of the most breathtaking views, Mplumalanga, Nelspruits ( lovely hikes, Wildlife, etc), Knysna (Really awesome for scuba diving). The East Coast is probably one of my favourites….Cape Twons ocean is frigid and not really suited for swimming. Durban (on the East Coast) on the otherhand, has gorgeous beaches with perfect temprature water all along the coast – theres a lot of Sharks, Dolphins and marine life. My answer also depends on what you’re into. If you would like a cultural experience, theres a lot of places I can recommend with a rich History, deeply rooted in Tradition. We have Bela Bela in Limpopo thats quite the resort that has pools heated by natural hotsprings, cheese factories closeby, horse riding. In Johannesburg we have many cultural hubs like Maboneng where you will meet all kinds of people, eat local food, expereince local song and dance.
This is heartbreaking. I’ll never understand how anyone can do such a cruel and heartless thing. Thanks for sharing! We need to be aware that this keeps happening.
You can’t see the lions in the photo. They are resting under the large bush behind the rhino. Poachers killed the rhino during the night only for the horn. Lions and other carnivores take the carcass. So sad rhinos are seriously endangered because of a superstition about powdered rhino horn having magical powers.
I agree. It is horrible how rhinos are being driven to the brink of extinction because of a superstition about their horns. South Africa is having some success. Last year 594 rhinos were poached. That is still 594 too many.

They all sound like great options. Durbin and Maboneng will be on the list when travel starts again. Thanks for the tips.

That’s so terrible. Our world is being destroyed by humans.

Indeed. Sometimes it makes me pessimistic about the future of our species.

It certainly is. The number of animals poached has been going down in S. A. but one is too many.

South Africa is doing better but still far too many of these magnificent creatures fall victim to poachers.

Oh Man, what kind of creature are you that takes another precious life for sport?

The rhino wasn’t poached for sport. Someone killed it for the horn. They say in Asia a rhino horn is worth $65,000 per kg. Sad.

Yes. Driving these creatures to the brink of extinction is horrible.
