This shark, there were at least a dozen of about the same size, was about 30 feet (10m) long. Huge fish! Thank you for taking a look at the blog and commenting!
You ain’t kidding! ๐ The mouth is big enough to swallow a man whole. Thank god these fish are filter feeders and not interested in people as food. Actually I was more afraid of hurting them than of the whale sharks hurting me. Swimmers were asked to not come within 5 meters but that was impossible as we had little maneuverabilityy compared to the sharks that came swimming by looking for their food.
Thee were a dozen or more whale sharks that came swimming through. A boat was chumming with tiny shrimp to attract them. I was glad to get back on the boat after about 20 min. because staying afloat and swimming a bit without fins was exhausting.

I saw no other fish around the sharks. Visibility underwater was around 30′ – 40′ not much more than the length of these fish.

And I am sure your adrenaline was working overtime which would wear you out as well.

My adrenaline was definitely pumping. The whale sharks were very calm and paid no attention to the humans.
