Bangkok Lounge Reviews – Qatar Airways Premium Lounge

Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) is a great place for airport lounges.  There are 32 across seven concourses.  And because BKK currently has just one terminal, if you are departing on an international flight you can get to 29 of them.  If you are flying in a premium cabin or have a Priority Pass membership, you will have several lounges to choose from while waiting for your flight to board.

As Thailand is one of my favorite destinations, I’ve visited many of these lounges but by no means all of them.  The Qatar Airways lounge welcomed me prior to a Qatar flight to Doha in 2019.  This review will be added to my compendium of Bangkok lounge reviews.

Location, Hours, and Access

Suvarnabhumi is a large airport.  The process of check in to boarding usually involves a lot of walking.  The Qatar lounge is very conveniently located just after exiting passport control.  Take the escalator or elevator down one floor.  The lounge is near Gate D8.

Anyone flying business class or first class on Qatar or any other Oneworld airline can use this lounge for free along with a guest.  Anyone flying out of BKK on a Oneworld airline who has Emerald or Sapphire Oneworld status may enter with a guest irrespective of the class of service flown.  This lounge is not part of the Priority Pass system.  It opens three hours before the first Qatar flight and closes at the last Qatar departure every day.

Seating Areas

Decor and seating are stylish and comfortable.  The lounge is fairly small.  It is divided into several seating areas.  That creates privacy and an intimate atmosphere.

Food and Beverages

If you are in the mood for eating or drinking, you will be more than satisfied.  The food service area is to the left of the entrance.  It includes the Global deli, Brasserie and Martini Bar.

The bar offers premium spirits, wine and beer in addition to martinis.

The Deli and Brasserie serve up a buffet of hot and cold entrees, side dishes and snacks.

Desserts and sweets are so tempting.

Food can be eaten in the dining area or a your seat.

Other Features

This lounge has showers, bathrooms, flight monitors, a business center, TV, and newspapers and magazines in Arabic, Thai and English.  The staff makes several boarding announcements for Qatar flights and can assist with any issues related to your Qatar flights.  When travel problems develop, face-to-face assistance from lounge agents can be a lifesaver because phone lines will probably be tied up.

Overall Impression

Let’s cut to the chase.  This is a small but outstanding airline lounge.  Seating and food and drinks are first class.  The best part of the lounge is the staff.  When I visited, there were as many staff as customers.  They kept the lounge and buffet looking good and cheerfully responded to any questions.
