Mind over Memory sponsors the Sculpture Saturday challenge. As the name implies, the challenge asks bloggers to post a photo of a sculpture on Saturday. My post this week is of a statue commonly referred to as the “idiot lion.”
The statue stands at the Palace of Justice in Sofia, Bulgaria. The lion is the meeting point for the Free Sofia Walking Tour, an excellent introduction to central Sofia and its history.
So why is this lion an idiot? The answer is right before our eyes (and in the comments).
Hahaha! In term of shape and posture, the statue is so great that it obscures the flaw. I wouldn’t realize the flaw if I didn’t read your comment. 😀

Hahaha… But, yeah, that’s an art. I guess there’s some subtle meaning on the way the lion walks. 😀

Even though he is an Idiot Lion…he is quite authorative. Ha!

I wouldn’t mess with him. The lion is an idiot because the way it is walking is opposite the way four legged creatures walk. The tour leader surprised all of us with that
