I probably shouldn’t post pictures like this because they remind me how much I miss travel. There are so many interesting places to explore. Sometimes there are surprises.

In Laos in September 2018 I rented a bicycle to ride to Tad Sae Falls, which was advertised as a peaceful, scenic spot on a Nam Kahn tributary.

The falls are about 10 km from Luang Prabang as the crow flies. The bike ride was longer. Tad Sae Falls are on the north side of the river requiring a boat ride to get there.
After what was a tough ride for me, I was really looking forward to a soothing swim in a tranquil pool.
But no swimming today, hahaha!
Oh well.

Luang Prabang is one of my favourite places. It has such an aura about it so calm and tranquil and the people are so friendly.

I agree. I would really love to go back and spend more time. Hopefully in the not too distant future. Stay safe!

The photos have the same effect for me. Tad Sae Falls would be worth seeing. The photos in brochures look fantastic. I’m glad I went even though I could not get in the water.

those are some powerful currents – smart move to skip the swimming…
it’s fascinating to see the trees right in the middle of the stream/waterfalls…

I don’t know the name of the stream, but it was seriously out of its banks that day. The scene looked nothing like the brochure. It was surprising because there had been no recent rain in Luang Prabang.

That is strange that there had not been rain recently. I would have thought there had been a major downpour to cause such currents…

Downpours may have happened elsewhere. September is at the end of the rainy season in Laos. The Nam Kahn was swollen too.

It must have rained somewhere upstream…

Such beautiful pictures! Your travel pictures give me something to look forward to when we can all travel again 🙂

I’m glad to hear that. I think the uncertainty about when we can safely travel again makes this time without travel even more painful for us all. Thanks for your comment.

Great photos and yeah, I can imagine the nostalgia you’re feeling. If Laos’ borders open up in July, as is expected, we are seriously considering heading over to Luang Prubang for a month or two.
