Mount Rainier lies about 110 miles (177 km) southeast of Seattle, WA. The mountain rises to an elevation of 14,410 ft (4,392 m) above sea level. In good weather, it is easily visible from Seattle. Rainier is one of many active volcanoes along the west coast of North America that form part of the Ring (Rim) of Fire surrounding the Pacific Ocean.

Seattle and the Pacific Northwest are beautiful aren’t they. On past flights from Seattle to LA it was really cool to see the string of volcanoes along the coast. Unfortunately this world traveler is home bound these days. Let’s hope we can safely get out and travel again soon.

Seattle is a vibrant, beautiful city with great views of Mount Rainier. If you fly from the east coast, sitting on the left side of the plane should give good views of Rainier assuming decent weather.
