Bang Pa-In Royal Palace is a complex of palaces, residences and pavilions dating from 1632. Set amidst vast gardens, the area was used as a retreat by Thai kings. Also known as the Summer Palace, most of the present buildings were constructed in Thai, Chinese, and Gothic styles between 1872 and 1889 by King Chulalongkorn.
Bang Pa-In is located on the Chao Phraya River in Ayutthaya Province, Thailand.
When in Bangkok, make time for a pleasant ride on a Chao Phraya cruise ship to Bang Pa-In and wander this beautiful, historic site.

Your short trip from Singapore was time well spent. Bang Pa-In is one of Thailand’s best attractions. I visited in 2007. I found it somewhat annoying that the tour guide kept harping on Chinese influences in the complex but many tourists are Chinese.

I visited Bang Pa-In in 2007. Time flies. The river cruise was as much fun as visiting the palaces.

Yes I agree ..although one year it wasn’t that much fun it was during Song Kra and we got so much water thrown at us!

Ha ha! I love Songkran but there should be a way for people to opt out. Playing water is not as big in Bangkok where people wear business attire as it is in the countryside.

You and me both Carl. Incidentally, the Thai 90-day Special Tourist Visa program I reported on recently was just put on hold indefinitely. Unfortunately, this is typical of the current regime.
