One Word Sunday is a blogging challenge hosted by Debbie Smyth at Travel With Intent. This week’s challenge is “giggle or gaggle.” One definition of gaggle is a disorderly or noisy group of people. These photos of passengers at Narita Airport waiting for a flight from Tokyo, Japan to Shanghai, China fit that definition to a tee.
Our China Eastern flight in August 2019 was repeatedly delayed by Typhoon Lekima until finally being cancelled late at night. China Eastern provided no assistance with rebooking or accommodations. Things got ugly. The airport had to turn out the lights to get the passengers to leave the gate.

I took one look at that photo and suspected it might be China Eastern. Had a terrible experience myself many years ago and haven’t flown with them since.

China Eastern is strange. Sometimes it is enjoyable. Other times its the worst airline in the world. The good news was after sleeping in the airport, in the morning I got in touch with Delta which had issued the tickets with frequent flyer miles. The rep rebooked us in business class direct to Bangkok on Thai. I’m sure that cost Delta a few bucks. Times like that, elite status and 2.5 million lifetime miles pays off.

Wow! That’s pretty cool that you followed up. Shy boys get no biscuits.
