February 12, 2021, is the start of the Lunar Year of the Ox. Today marks the start of a 15-day Lunar New Year/Spring Festival celebration.
Chinese lunar years are based on the 12-year Chinese zodiac calendar, represented by 12 different animals. Twelve signs of the zodiac combine with the five Chinese elements of nature to establish a 60-year calendrical cycle also called a sexagenary cycle. The lunar year 2021 corresponds to the Lunar Year of the Metal Ox to be precise. The preceding Lunar Year of the Metal Ox was 1961.
This year holds great promise for the end of the pandemic, the comeback of our economies, and the creation of conditions that will permit travel to resume.
Happy Lunar New Year to all!
Do you know where the photo was taken? It could be Macau, Shanghai or . . .?

fingers crossed that this year will be the end of the pandemic. I remember being in Singapore last year for the Chinese New Year, and despite the precautions in place, it was still exciting to experience such an event…

I remember one of your posts about a dragon dance, if I’m not mistaken. I bet Chinese New Year is a big deal there.
