Today I’m watching the final round of the 2021 PGA Golf Championship is being played at The Ocean Course on Kiawah Island, South Carolina. I played this course from some of the forward tees in 2016. Many of the holes and sights are familiar.

One sight I recall from 2016 that is definitely missing from the tournament this year are the large alligators that frequent all of the freshwater ponds.

The pond between 9th Green and 10th tee was the gathering spot for some of the largest gators on the course. Many were more than10 ft. in length.

I’m okay with alligators being in the water.  But one decided to soak up the sun a few feet off the 17th Tee.

Please!  The golf course is hard enough without having to worry about being reptile bait.

Good luck to Phil Mickelson as he continues to lead the field at Kiawah.  At nearly 51 years of age, he would become the oldest winner of a major golf championship.
