I visited this museum in 2016. I didn’t note the name of the artist but have discovered the sculptor is Tonney Mugo, an artist famous for his work with glass. The sculpture appears to have an astronomical connotation with the Sun and Earth but there is also what looks like a shield and crossed spears.

The Nairobi National Museum was established in 1930 as the Coryndon Museum, named for a recently deceased colonial governor. The Museum was renamed “Nairobi National Museum” in 1964 one year after Kenya gained its independence from England. The Nairobi National Museum is the centerpiece of the National Museums of Kenya system.

The Museum is located on Museum Hill by the Uhuru Highway about 10 minutes driving time from the city center.

Sculpture Saturday is a challenge hosted by Susan Kelly at No Fixed Plans.
