This photo was taken while walking along the banks of the Susitna River in Talkeetna, Alaska on a cloudy day in May 2021. Peaks of the Alaska Range loom on the horizon about 60 miles (about 97 km) distant. The original photo was in color.
The Susitna River (Big Su) is a 313-mile (504 km) long river in the Southcentral Alaska. It is the 15th largest river in the United States, ranked by average discharge volume at its mouth. The river flows from the Susitna Glacier to Cook Inlet’s Knik Arm.
May the rest of the week be bright and colorful!
Talkeetna looks a great wee place to visit – are you staying there? Enjoy your holiday 🙂

great photo to be in black and white; highlights how desolate the location is…

Thanks. I’m not a photographer (or a writer) so there’s not a lot of planning or analysis in my photos. I just hope they look good and serve as reminders of the trip.

I’m the same way with my writing and whenever I take a picture. I just grab my phone, point, and shoot…

Alaska has got to be about the most beautiful state we have.

It is hard to believe you are still in the U.S. up there. Thanks for your comment, GP.

Beautiful photo! And the monochromatic effect makes this photo even more beautiful. 🙂
