Otowa Waterfall is located at the base of Kiyomizudera Temple in Kyoto, Japan. Visitors may use cups attached to long poles to drink from three separate streams. Each stream provides a different benefit — longevity, success at school, or a fortunate love life. Drinking from all three streams, however, is considered greedy.

I don’t know how they address the Covid issue. Having clean cups would be a big concern as well as social distancing in the lines at the waterfall and other temples.

Masks have been widely used in Asia even before Covid. People sometimes wear them just avoid getting or spreading colds. I used to think it was amusing.

They had the right idea all along! I plan to continue wearing a mask in certain situations even after the pandemic, if there is an after the pandemic.

That’s my guess. I don’t recall if the waterfalls are identified as to which benefit goes with which waterfall. I’d take two of the three any day though. Thanks for reading and providing a fun comment.
