Lens Artist Photo Challenge #165 is Going Wide. It is an invitation for wide-angle views of people, places, or things taken on a camera or smartphone.

I took this shot of an Indian Ocean seascape in 2016 with a cell phone during a fantastic stay at the Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa.

Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa

The hotel occupies an entire island in the Gaafu Alifu Atoll, a tiny, low-lying speck of sand and coral only 30 miles (50 km) north of the equator. There are great sea views all around. No other land is insight. The Park Hyatt is a fabulous hotel, and the Maldives are a great vacation destination.

This pier is the atoll’s only connection to the outside world. The remoteness of the resort — 250 miles (400 km) south of Male’s Velana International Airport — gives it a real desert-island feeling. It takes a bit longer to get there but is really worth it as long as you don’t mind the isolation.

Thanks for taking a look. Would you like a Maldives vacation?
