This year Monday January 17 is celebrated as Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (MLK Day), a U.S. federal holiday. The day honors the person who was the face and backbone of the nonviolent American civil rights movement of the 1950s and 60s.
To pay its respects to King (January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968) and the struggle he led, Alaska Airlines flies one of its B737-800s in a special livery.

Let’s all try to do the right thing. Deep down, I think we all have a very good idea what that is in most situations.
absolutely what a powerful message from a powerful man.

Alaska Airlines has its shit together! I really like Alaska Airlines… but then again, it is an airline. 😊

Too few people (especially politicians) do what is right these days. It is sad to see MLK and numerous other’s hard work being reversed in many states. Fingers crossed that more people start doing the right thing and that they do it soon. Allan

Wouldn’t the world be a much better place if that happened! Thanks for your comment, Allan. I hope your warm spell continues. John

Yes. We all have an inner compass and it can guide us if we do not suppress the feelings we consider as negative. Rather facing them and accept that we all have our shadowy side and trying to get friends with them. Then they do not lead our actions unawarely.😁

Great point! We can’t improve unless we first understand we are imperfect. Thanks for adding your thoughts.

I’m amazed that an airline used such a profound statement to adorn one of its planes.

The use of one of its planes for this statement reinforces my view of Alaska Airlines
as the best US airline.

I really like the airplane design. MLK was one of a kind and still sorely missed.

The design impressed me, too. The design was created by a young Black artist and letterer. (I had no idea that designing letters was a thing.) Unfortunately he was killed in a bike accident in November.

Well put Pete! We should be guided by what we know is right not what we think we can get away with.
