I wasn’t sure of what I was looking at so I thought I’d ask the blogging community. I think this is Newport News, VA and the James River just south of Chesapeake Bay. Newport News Shipbuilding Co. builds and refurbishes carriers for the navy. There are three aircraft carriers docked on the waterfront. The photo quality makes them hard to make out. Great guess though.
There are indeed similar bridges in nearby Chesapeake Bay. The flight route between Charlotte and NYC goes over this area. The geography is pretty interesting from 30,000′.
Maggie I think this is Newport News, Virginia and the James River just south of Chesapeake Bay. The photo quality is bad but there are three aircraft carriers docked on the waterfront. Newport News Shipbuilding Company builds and refurbishes them. Thanks for playing.😊 John
I was hoping someone who was familiar with the area might be able to confirm or correct my assumption because I’m not 100% sure either. I see this area often on flights between Charlotte, North Carolina and NYC. Google search was no help. Thanks again for giving it a shot.

Well, I wouldn’t be able to guess at all … I don’t know the USA at all (sorry ☺️). At least, I could see (what I thought was) a bridge – unbelievable long one I must add. Thanks for letting me know!
Thanks for playing along, Tangie. I asked where this was because I wasn’t sure myself.😄 I believe this is Newport News, VA. The clue is the shipyard with three aircraft carriers. My cell phone and shooting through the plane window made it hard to make out fine details.

I have no idea, but it looks very interesting … that can’t be a bridge or is it?
