It has been a while since my last LAPC post. I picked a surprisingly hard one to rejoin the fun. I discovered that straight lines dominate most of my photos. I found a few that fit the challenge “Curves.”
The shortest distance between two points on a sphere is a… curve, a great circle.Tight curves at the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens, Greece. In contrast, Turn 3 at Charlotte Motor Speedway is banked and sweeping. Speeds are very different of course. Curvy chandeliers at Hyatt Regency TokyoThis rollercoaster at Fuji-Q Highland Amusement Park has plenty of curves, twists and turns not to mention views of Mt. Fuji.Floating flowers at Jokhang Temple Lhasa, Tibet in what I presume is a circular storage tank for fighting fires.Get toasty warm at this curvy firepit seating area in the Alaska Airlines lounge at Sea-Tac Airport in Seattle, Washington. The curve of the paraglider’s airfoil produces lift – Interlaken, Switzerland

Nicely done, when I saw the theme I was half wondering what kind of photos might show up! 😉 I really like the Fuji shot. Have actually been to Fuji-Q Highland Amusement Park, albeit very briefly for lunch as part of a tour taking in Fuji and bits of Hakone National Park.
those were some amazing photos; my favorites included: the stadium at Athens, the first person view from the race car; Mt. Fuji, and was that a direct flight you were on? that must have been quite long!
You’re the first to mention the race track and stadium. I should have noted the photo was from my car when I got my Covid shots last year. Thanks for commenting on the photos.
I’m surprised you have more straight lines than curves in your photos – I suspect I’m the opposite! Anyway, you found some good ones – my favourite is the one of flowers floating in the water tank 🙂
I like that one too, Sarah. The most popular appears to be the paraglider. It is sending a subliminal message with the colors of the Ukrainian flag. 😉😄
Lovely diversity and beautiful shots – as usual! Love the paraglider – would also want to try one! My favourite is the floating flowers at Jokhang. May I ask when that photo was taken? I was there in 2009, and I know the venerable temple was burnt down later – has it been rebuilt?
This photo was in September 2018. Thankfully no trace of fire. The paraglider photo (taken in March 2017) is particularly timely since it is the same color as the Ukraine flag. Thanks for the challenging challenge.
great pics – especially love the mountains through the roller coaster!
