Songkran is the Thai national holiday celebrating the traditional Thai New Year. Locals and tourists engage in dousing each other with water with anything from water guns to buckets of water from the back of pick-up trucks. The festival normally runs from April 13 – 15. Try it out one year if you are so inclined.
I’m not so sure I want to be thrown with a bucket of water … I hated it when my brother used his tiny water pistol on me when we were kids 😄. But watching it (from a distance) might be fun!

First partaking in a little alcohol helps. 😄

My friend who has been staying in Thailand for teaching showed me a photo of a railway market. Have you been there before?

I have great memories from Songkran. Not something I’d want to get involved with again, but definitely an experience. If there is a next time I’d be happy watching from afar (and preferably above).

I hear you Leighton! At this point, I’ll watch rather than participate. although it was fun back in the day. Have a great weekend and thanks for visiting.

This reminds me of Holi. Instead of colorful dyes being thrown about, there is water. I could get into this.

It is one of the most fun festivals I’ve seen. Just be prepared to get wet😊

Wow! Sound very interesting and fun. For me like a catholic tomorrow it’s Saturday of Glory and we have the habit of getting wet, with water pistols and other things, at home.
Thank’s for share John.
Nice weekend!

That is interesting. The Thai celebration with water is a symbolic cleansing. Is that at all similar to Saturday of Glory?

For us is a symbolic the confirmation of baptism, cleansing sins. In addition, the passage from death to the resurresction of Jesus Christ. Thank’s, John.
Keep well.

That is similar to the function of water in Songkran. Thank you for the explanation.
