This week’s One Word Sunday photo challenge is “Fly.”
Debbie challenges us to join with our own fly post. I missed the last few OWS challenges, but this one is right up my alley.
Lighter-than-air, non-motorized flight in a hot-air balloon over Masaai Mara National Reserve, Kenya.
Heavier-than-air, non-motorized flight in a glider at Dillingham Airfield, Oahu, Hawaii.
Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina with markers indicating the length of the first flights in powered aircraft that was heavier than air performed by the Wright Brothers in 1903.
Finally, a Fly 748 Bombardier Dash-8 on the ramp at Mombasa prior to a flight to Nairobi, Kenya.
See Debbie’s Fly post and other responses to the OWS challenge here.
Thanks for viewing my response and best wishes for the upcoming week.
I particularly like the Masai Mara shots – what a place to fly

Thank you! And I didn’t even have to resort to photos from the luxurious business and first class flights I’ve been lucky to enjoy.

Looks amazing John. I missed my 4:30 ride in Napa years ago I opted for sleep in the day so I’m vicariously living through your pics which are awesome!!💖

Great photos John, I’m particularly digging the Hawaii airfield shots, very cool indeed. **On a separate note I wanted to let you know that I think your last comment on my blog came through as “anonymous”. Unfortunately, 3-4 of my regular readers’ comments are coming through this way. It’s really frustrating because I have no idea why it’s happening and am working with WordPress support to see if they can shed any light on this. To compound matters, people whose comments come through as anonymous also don’t receive a notification that I have replied. At this stage I’m having to do guesswork as to whose comments belong to who. I “think” I successfully highlighted one of them as yours in my Banteay Srei piece? Maybe you could sign off as John in the meantime in case this problem can’t be quickly resolved? Really appreciate your long term readership, John.

Hi Leighton! Flying gliders is unbelievably fun. The silence is striking. The Steve Miller Band song I Want to Fly Like an Eagle kept playing in my head.
WP has a lot of little glitches in its system. For some reason WP automatically likes some posts before I see them. I hope the likes actually show up on the author’s site. You are correct about the comment I submitted on your last post. Good luck with WP support.

“Fly 748” is one of the most appropriate names for an airline I’ve ever seen. 🙂

That is a great name. I’m not sure what 748 means. It is probably not a reference to a 747-8 that airlines abbreviate as 748.😄

That sounds plausible.

Indeed … this is definitely your kind of post 😁. I still think that the hot-air balloon flight must have been amazing!

Ha ha! That was the first and only time I’ve been in a balloon. The flight was incredibly smooth and quiet when the burner wasn’t operating. I loved it.😄
