Thanks to Leya for this weeks Lens-Artists Challenge #166, artificial light.
This post features a few of my favorite things in artificial light as captured by my cell phone. They lack the image quality of many of the other posts on this topic. I hope you get the idea though and enjoy the blurry pics.
Palcio del Inka Hotel
The Palacio del Inka Hotel, a Marriott Luxury Collection hotel, is a five-centuries-old mansion built on an Inka foundation in Cusco, Peru. Soft light fits the hotels ancient heritage.

Latin Dancing
Although I don’t do as much salsa dancing these days because of Covid and other factors (ahem age), it is still fun to listen to the music and watch great dancers display their fancy moves.
Latin dance festivals or congresses are multi-day, practically non-stop celebrations of dance consisting of workshops, performances and parties. Each year, there are (or were before Covid) scores of festivals and congresses all over the world.

Surprisingly perhaps, Asia is a hot bed of latin dancing. There are festivals and clubs in most of the capitals and larger cities. Salsa Caribe is one of the best latin clubs in Beijing.

Victoria Harbour Laser Light Show
Many delightful and entertaining experiences are free or inexpensive which adds to the enjoyment in my view. That’s the case with the free laser light show over Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong. The lasers evaded capture on my cell phone unfortunately. The light show is free, and the best place to view it is from the Star Ferry, which costs only 3.2 Hong Kong dollars ($.4) one way.

Airplanes
Airlines have installed soothing mood lighting in their newer aircraft. When the flight attendants turn on the soft lighting that’s the off to never never land cue Mood lighting makes sleep easier especially in coach where passengers need all the help we can get to grab a little shut eye.

With a lie-flat bed in business class or first class, soft lighting is appreciated but not as necessary for sound sleep.

This is my contribution to Lens-Artists Challenge #166. I hope you found it interesting. No raindrops on roses or whiskers on kittens but these are a few of my favorite things in artificial light.
Cheers!
such a nice diversity of featured places. I personally like brown paper packages tied up with string…

Great photos all. I can relate to that economy shot, but not first class!

First class is such a treat, I wish I had the points and miles to have that experience more often.

Some good shots John. Many cameras do not perform well in artificial light, but I still take subdued light and night time shots anyway. Stay well. Allan

Thanks Allan! I gave up carrying a SLR and large tripod because of weight and some issues with security abroad but may start carrying an SLR again.

I like this lighting a lot more than what airlines used before.

With the lighting and “smooth as glass” nighttime ride, I had a good sleep on this flight.
