Bangkok Airways is one of if not the best regional airlines in the world.  Five of the last six years (2014, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019), Skytrax Airline Ratings has named it the World’s Best Regional Airline and The Best Regional Airline in Asia.  A major reason for Bangkok Airways’ high ranking is its system of simple but classy Boutique Lounges which are open to any Bangkok Airways passenger regardless of class of service.

It is always a treat to relax in a Boutique Lounge before a flight even though I have no special status with Bangkok Airways and never fly business class on this airline,.  Boutique Lounges are one of five thigs I love about Bangkok Airways.  Coupled with the friendly, enthusiastic and professional service of the flight crews, it is easy to see how Bangkok Airways garners so many awards.  I’ve flown Bangkok Airways numerous times and have never been disappointed.

Location and Hours

Bangkok Airways operates separate Boutique Lounges at Suvarnabhumi Airport for international and domestic passengers.  The lounge for domestic passengers is located on Concourse A, Level 2.  It is adjacent to the Bangkok Airways Blue Ribbon lounge I reviewed yesterday.

The BKK domestic Boutique Lounge is open from 04:30 to 22:00 daily.  Bangkok Airways operates Boutique Lounges at Bangkok (international and domestic), Chiang Mai,  Chiang Rai, Koh Samui, Krabi, Phuket, and Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and Luang Prabang, Laos.

Access

Access rules are simple.  A boarding pass for a same-day flight on Bangkok Airways is the only thing that will get you in.  Unlike with its business-class Blue Ribbon lounge next door, Bangkok Airways does not sell access through Lounge Buddy or Priority Pass.

Lounge Layout

Seating

I like the look of this lounge.  Seating is in one large rectangular room to the right of the check-in desk.  The room is divided down the middle by a long row of couches back to back.  If you are looking for electrical outlets, seats at the windows or the couches in the center are the best bet.

Snacks and Beverages

Light snacks and beverages are located at the end of the seating area.  There is no hot food or alcohol, but for free, the food and drinks are more than acceptable.  I usually munch on popcorn and the mini sandwiches with no crust.

There is a variety of soft drinks plus machines to brew coffee or tea the way you like it.

Flight Monitor

Keep up with the status of your flight on the flight monitor at the front of the seating area.  Normally, there are no boarding calls.  Remember to factor in the fact that passengers must still go through security after leaving the lounge.  That plus the walk to the security area takes at least 10 – 15 minutes.

Computer

Just after entering, the Boutique Lounge provides a desktop computer for public use.

Other Services and Information

This lounge has good WiFi, two customer service employees at the check-in desk who can answer questions abut Bangkok Airways flights, and newspapers and magazines.  The lounge is non smoking, and allows no pets or outside food and drinks.  There are no showers and guests must use nearby public restrooms.

Overall Impression

Bangkok Airways Boutique Lounges are very simple, relatively inexpensive, self-service lounges that punch above their weight in terms of enhancing the customer experience.   Just having a lounge open to every passenger creates a special feeling about the airline before you even step on board.  These classy little lounges no doubt play a big role in making Bangkok Airways the best regional airline in the world.
